How it all began
Australia Zoo 2015
In September 2015, my family and I went to Australia Zoo. I was 10 years old. I had never seen soooo many koala's before. There were lots. What I loved most was that there were soooo many Joeys!! They were so cute I just wanted to take them all home. A keeper did a presentation about koala's. It was the first time I had heard things about them and the very first time I got to pat one. It was so wooly. I learned so much there that day. The thing I loved the most was all the babies.
Australia Zoo is where I first fell in love with koalas.

The Spark....
In July, 2016 I watched a storey on an episode of The Living Room that was about Koala's. I was 11 years old. Dr Chris Brown was talking about the risk that our koala's face of becoming endangered. Habitat destruction is the biggest threat to our koalas. Cutting down their homes and food sources is forcing them to look elsewhere- making them cross roads where they are struck by cars and roam into suburban backyards where they are attacked by dogs. I decided that I wanted to do something to help. So my mum helped me google charities and organisations that support koala's.

Why I continue..
So many people inspire and encourage me to do what I do.
My family are my number one support and encouragement. They sacrifice a lot for me to be able to do what I do and experience the things that I am lucky enough to experience.
My community and followers are an amazing support. From encouraging words to donations, conversations at events, letters, cards, notes- they give me the support and encouragement to keep doing what I do.
Then there are the people that I am lucky enough to meet that care for wildlife and koalas especially. I have many mentors that teach me things, inspire me, support and encourage me. Without them, I would not be doing the work that I am doing.

The people that helped start this all......
If it wasn't for the Irwin Family (Australia Zoo) and Dr Chris Brown, I would not be doing what I am doing today. Their passion for wildlife is infectious. I hope to one day meet any of them. I have been very lucky to have received a personal message on my Australia Zoo Visionary Wildlife campaign from Terri Irwin. I also received a hand written encouraging card from Bindi Irwin and a personally signed photograph from Robert.
The koala carers that inspire, support and encourage me.....
These amazing, dedicated and inspiring people do so much for me. They share their stories with me. I learn so much from them on ways to help koalas and all kinds of wildlife. They are incredible people and our wildlife are lucky to have people like them looking out for them. 2018 would not have been the amazing year that it was for me, without them.
Wildlife carers inspire me
There are so many carers and rescuers that I have been lucky enough to meet over the years. I cannot name them all and the ways that our encounters have inspired me but here are two that I have regular contact with.
Christine and Deb from Coopers Animal Refuge are amazing ladies. They run a big shelter and have many animals in care (mainly roos, wombats and possums). I visit them a couple of times a year and learn so much from every visit. We have had many fun times together. They do amazing work rehabilitating our wildlife. You can read about them- Coopers Animal Refuge
Andrew & Krysti are from Wildlife Rescuers. Both of them are busy rescuers and also care for animals. They live in our area and attend to many of our local wildlife in need. I see them quite a bit. In 2018, I did a basic rescue course with their group. It was great- I learned heaps. Their group is always around to help wildlife in need. I always learn so much from them when I see them. They support and encourage me in lots of ways. Learn about them here- Wildlife Rescuers
