Clean up Australia day
On Sunday March 5th, my family and I attended our local Clean Up Australia Day Event. We were at the Diamond Creek. We are lucky enough to have platypus in our creeks around us. We spent the morning cleaning up the creek and the pedestrian tracks around them. There was a fair bit of litter- LOTS of McDonalds rubbish, potato chip packets and little bits of litter.

Spot a platypus?
What did I learn?
Even the tiniest bits of rubbish can kill wildlife.
Rubber bands can kill bird life and platypus. |
THANK YOU to Melbourne Water for coming out and talking about the Platypus. I loved hearing about them and even shared the information I learned in the conservation talk I did for the Girl Guides group. They were excited to hear there are platypus in our local creeks and happy to know how to help keep them safe.
