In September 2016, my family and I went to Dreamworld. I got to hold my very first koala- Misty. She was adorable. This is a moment I will always remember. We visited many days while we were in Queensland. I was lucky enough to hold 7 koala's through their koala encounters. Holding them is something I only dreamed about doing. They are so cuddly and the keepers were really great with them and me. The keepers shared their knowledge and passion for koala's with me. Dreamworld organised a special behind the scenes tour for me. I got to go and see where some of the koala's are kept and got to see lots of mum's and their joeys. Going to Dreamworld was an experience I will never forget- the koalas I held and the keepers I met made me love koala's even more. Thank you to everyone at Dreamworld that made my visits so special.
Something I learned:
You can only hold koala's in Queensland and New South Wales.
Koala numbers are most at risk in South Queensland and northern New South Wales mainly due to humans destroying their habitat for buildings, houses, roads etc.
