On September 30th my family and I went to Gumbuyer Park to celebrate the last day of Save the Koala month. They did lots of fundraising, dressed up and hosted koala talks. It was a fun day. I got to meet all the keepers and had a close up encounter with one of their koalas. The girls were very happy to hear about what I had been doing- they loved my Australian Koala Foundation jumper and tshirt.
It was great to talk to more people that are so passionate and dedicated to koala conservation.
What did I learn
Koala's look really different in Victoria compared to Queensland. They are bigger in Victoria. They are darker in colour in Victoria. They are fluffier in Victoria. There numbers are better in Victoria than in Queensland and New South Wales but they are still under threat because of habitat destruction.
