Tree planting day at the You Yangs

Today I went to the You Yangs with my Dad and my friend Ebony. We went to plant trees, pull out weeds and look for wild koalas.  This was my first ever tree planting day! I was so excited to plant trees.

First we went to a sacred piece of indigenous land with a stone circle to plant trees. They bought 80 trees and my dad, ebony and myself all planted 16 trees together. We named some of our trees and some of their names were Libby Junior, Single Pringle (because there was nothing around it), Ebony Junior, Boris (the first tree we planted and my dad named it this random name), Chris Junior and Prickles (cos I got prickled near this tree by Tiger Pear). Tiger Pear HURTS!
Then we drove into the You Yangs to pull out Boneseed Weed.

Ebony and I found really big bushes of it and tried to pull them out. We got most of the big bushes out but there was one really big one which we gave up on.
After we went to find Anzac who is Clancys father. When we went looking for him we could not find him. We were looking forever then Kirby spotted him on a really small branch at the top of the tree. After looking at him through the binoculars we went back to the car and went home.
It was so much fun looking for Anzac, planting trees and pulling out the boneseed weed. It was a lot of fun spending the day with Ebony, my Dad, Janine, Kirby and Mel. I hope to one day take a whole group of my friends to do some tree planting and weed removing- maybe even spot a koala!

If you want to help plant trees around the You Yangs- the tree planting season is now until August. Koala Clancy Foundation have 2,000 trees they want to plant and they do it on the first and third Sunday of each month. Click on the Koala Clancy Logo for information
