Did you know that koala's are listed as a "vulnerable" species?
Recently there has been lots of media about koalas and the population decline. Experts are saying that at the rate they are being killed and are dying plus the devastating bush fires in 2019/2020- they will be EXTINCT in the wild in NSW & QLD by 2050! EXTINCT! Not to mention that koalas populations in Victoria are also suffering due to habitat loss, car strikes and a relatively new/unknown disease killing them in many areas around the state- Sarcoptic Mange (scabies). This disease is a death sentence for koalas because for wild koalas, once they are discovered with signs of it, its too late. It has been treated in some koalas when caught very early but this has only been successful in a VERY small percentage. The majority of koalas that contract this, are euthanised.
Over the years, Libby's passion has developed to a love for all wildlife! Every carer or rescuer that she meets, opens up her heart and mind to other animals and the ways they can be helped. She now spends her time helping many shelters, carers and rescuers of ALL wildlife- not just koalas. Funds raised supports these volunteers in the work that they do saving and protecting our wildlife. Money raised helps many species- Koalas, kangaroos, wombats, eagles, possums, flying foxes, sugar gliders, echidnas, reptiles, all kinds of birds & parrots- all Australian Native animals.
